I also use Google Docs for drafting and saving just about everything. But there comes a point, especially with court-type documents (I'm a law student who's had the need to create a few "briefs") and scholarly articles (footnotes!!) that the formatting functionality of a desktop word processor is required. I imagine this is coming with GoogleDocs someday, but for now OpenOffice is great for the Word/WordPerfect compatibility. I will have to check out the return of Lotus! (I recall Lotus 123 from my childhood...)
